The Leopard rider has largely dominated the last Moto3 races thanks to the breakthrough he had in Thailand and which now allows him to savor after a lot of sacrifices.

Lorenzo Dalla Porta will be able to fully enjoy the last round of the season after a triumphant return to his hometown. This in fact gave him a welcome worthy of the greatest following his title of World Champion, won during the Asian tour where he achieved a flawless performance.

“It’s a great joy to have all these people around you. It's great to be popular and manage to convey something to the public when you run. I do it for myself but it gives me great pleasure to entertain the fans”, he told GP One.

It is true that the Leopard driver did not expect to trigger such a wave of joy, but he forgot that he is the first Italian to be crowned in the smallest category since 2004. He was also crowned in style since after a second place in Buriram, he went on to win a series of victories. “It couldn’t have gone better.”, he confirms. “Even before the three consecutive GPs, I already felt very good in Thailand where I finished second because of a small mistake in the last corner. This year I didn't feel the pressure because I always tried to find the positive sides, without going crazy. I always believed in it. »

“Maybe the trigger came in Thailand,” he continues. “This second place was the definitive confirmation because I was coming from a complicated moment, I had just lost my grandmother and it was one of the most difficult weekends of my life. But I had a good approach to the race and then I understood that I could go for the title. There could have been a lot of obstacles, I'm not saying that I felt unbeatable but I really believed in myself in the race. »

It was a good thing for him since he completely defeated his opponents, who will compete for the title of vice-world champion this weekend, in Valencia. For his part, the Italian will savor this title which is the fruit of numerous sacrifices: “I'm a boy like the others, except when I'm at the races. In recent years I gave up my studies but I never really liked sitting in a chair at school so it wasn't a big loss. But I remember when I started, it's an expensive sport and for many years I couldn't afford much. »

“I couldn't go out in the evening with my friends or buy fashionable clothes and a cell phone. Basically I couldn't afford many things materially, because I knew I had to save for my family. But today I get more satisfaction from it, I’m not throwing money out the window but my life has improved a little”he concludes.
