Dani Holgado was the main protagonist of the Qatar Moto3 GP, even if victory escaped him at the last minute. Le pilot Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 its slender en pole position on le personalised tour de lusail et a kept la head during toute la course. Holgado, however, could not prevent David Alonso to overtake him in the last corner before the checkered flag. Despite this, the pilot considers that this weekend was very positive, as our collaborator explained to us Manuel Pecino from the Qatari paddock.

Holgado considers that being second is not a bad thing, even if he was overtaken in the last corner…
“At the end of the day, one day you do it, another day they do it to you. But at the end of the day, you always have to look on the bright side of things. And the positive side is that we were very, very fast throughout the weekend. We led Friday, Saturday and today we are second. It's a great start. Above all, we didn’t fall, we didn’t make any mistakes.”
“I did sixteen laps without making the slightest mistake. And it was quite complicated, because the tire wear was very significant. I couldn't even lean the bike, I was two and a half seconds slower than the best lap of the race. And yet, without making a mistake, I fought until the end. It’s a pretty positive race. »

“I think my race was pretty smart”

The driver felt very comfortable in the lead…
“At the end of the day, every runner has their own style. When you lead until the end, you adopt a different trajectory which allows you, perhaps, to wear the tire less, to push a little more. When you're in the group, you brake as late as possible so they don't overtake you, you close the line, and it's different at the end.«

The Valencian runner took stock of his race…
“I think my race was quite intelligent, without making any mistakes. But I wouldn't change it because if I hadn't gone badly in that corner, I think I would have won. But I was a little too early on the accelerator and I lost a little grip. And then David [Alonso] arrived with a lot of speed, he overtook me. I tried to hold him while braking but I couldn't. He had already won the position.«

David Alonso's overtaking already paves the way for a very competitive year, and Holgado jokes about it...
“Above all, it will be a fun year because he is an aggressive but clean driver. And that's what I like. We can have interesting battles. I can't wait to get to Portimao to come back, to take my revenge. »
