The driver of the Estrella Galicia 0,0 team is waiting like everyone else for the health crisis to pass and took the opportunity to look back on his start to the season with Marca.

After a first season learning in Moto3 last year concluded with a superb victory in Valencia, Sergio García is now the leader of his team with the departure of Alonso López and the arrival of rookie Ryusei Yamanaka at his side.

Despite a good start to the race in Qatar, he fell back to finish in 11th position and must now be patient to raise the bar. Like a large part of the world's population, he is confined to his home in the Valencian Community, but is not having too bad a time. Just 17 years old, he is still in school and therefore sees his days busy, in addition to his weekly training sessions.

“It’s a difficult time because we can’t go out, it’s strange, but I’m taking advantage of this time to do a lot of sport and I’m enjoying it well. I set up a small gym on the terrace of my house with a treadmill, weights and other elements that I develop”, he explained to the Spanish site Marca.

“Two or three days after returning from Qatar, I was sure I wouldn't be able to go to class. But even so, I have work to do at home and I also continue to practice my English. I video call my friends and talk to them on social media, and I'm in constant contact with the team. We analyzed the Qatar race and we continue to work to improve different aspects of my performance. New technologies help a lot to maintain a work rhythm. »

The debriefing with the Estrella Galicia 0,0 team allowed him to understand his somewhat missed performance in Qatar to return to the front: “The start was good. I fought hard in the race for the first places, but in the last laps I lost ground after making a few mistakes. At least we know why, it's something we can improve, and we will have learned from it next time. »

While waiting for an official start date for the season, bets are on regarding the opponents who will give him a hard time. “Even though we were only able to compete in one race, it was enough for me to see that Albert Arenas was very strong, and we can say the same thing about Tony Arbolino, Ai Agura, Jaime Masià or John McPhee”, did he declare.
