Tech3 rider Deniz Oncü will long remember the Moto3 version of the Spanish Grand Prix which kept us in suspense until the finish line. And in case he has an unlikely memory lapse, he can always look in the mirror to see that he now bears a mark from this battle of Jerez. Certainly, the Turk is the big disappointment of a final which he upset by falling in the middle of the melee. But he also had a narrow escape. A fall is never trivial on a motorcycle. The proof…

La video immortalizes the pilot's fall Tech3 en Moto3 who could have lived a moment of glory at Jerez. But also a drama. By sliding among his opponents' machines, the young Turk discovered that a brake disc could become a circular saw...

These words are powerful: “ honestly I'm lucky to still be alive. When Darryn Bidner's motorcycle passed over my head, his brake rotor sliced my neck. It could have been worse! » Given the mark left, certainly…

Otherwise, the teammate Sasaki, who finished fifth commented on his performance: “ honestly, this whole weekend has been very good for us, since FP1. We always tried to be alone, push and find a good rhythm. I was pretty good and had strong speed while riding alone. In the race, I started from P10 to arrive in the lead. I was so consistent that many riders tried to overtake me, but couldn't hold on for long. I led more or less the entire race. Unfortunately, in the sixth corner, I braked too late and I was too inside, so I was overtaken by two, three drivers, so I was third at the last corner ».

Deniz Oncü recognizes his luck to still be alive

« Coming in, I braked as usual, but I couldn't get the bike into first gear, so I just slipped into second gear, I tried to stop the bike, but I I hit Masia and made him fall too. I'm really sorry for him! We had such a good weekend, we worked so hard and finally I crashed in the last corner, which was very painful but not physically. I hope I can continue as strong as this weekend for the next round at Le Mans ».

His boss Hervé Poncharal added : " what a Moto3 race! It was an incredible long race for us to watch, with Deniz in the lead most of the time and as usual a large group fighting together through every corner. When we entered the last three laps and saw Deniz still in the lead, we were quite confident of a good result. We know how hard he worked throughout the weekend, doing each session alone without following anyone. This helped him a lot during the race, because he was clearly the fastest guy on the track, when he was alone and the only one who could pull the peloton ».

« Unfortunately, Jerez is Jerez. In that very last corner so much happens and it's part of the history of this circuit. I think Deniz was overtaken in the final straight of the last lap and I really think he couldn't accept not being at least on the podium. Finally, he made this fatal mistake in the race which deprived him of a good result. He was devastated at the end of the race and it was very difficult to calm him down. But it shows how involved he is, how much he puts everything he has into his race. He was strong and that’s what he needs to keep in mind. We have to keep the positives, go to the next race with the same spirit, the same attitude and the same work ».

It will be recalled that this test was removed by the phenomenon Peter Acosta who, at 16, flew to the championship.
