It was during the Thai Grand Prix that Gabriel Rodrigo suffered a fall, causing a fracture of the second metatarsal of his right foot. We see him below thrown from his machine during a high side that ended badly. He subsequently broke his right collarbone.

Rodrigo courageously participated in the next three Grands Prix despite the pain, but unfortunately could not finish any of them. Yet he still had the speed, with the tenth qualifying time in Japan, the eleventh in Australia and the ninth in Malaysia.

But rather than being able to decently defend his chances once again, the Argentine sportingly preferred to leave his place to the young Jeremy Alcoba, winner last Sunday – already in Valencia – in CEV and Junior Moto3 World Champion. He clearly won the title ahead of Carlos Tatay.

Alcoba took part in this year's Austrian Grand Prix on a Honda from Fausto Gresini's team, with the 24th qualifying time and 21st place at the finish. At Silverstone, he was 22nd on the grid and 14th at the finish line.

Fausto Gresini separates from Riccardo Rossi at the end of the season and welcomes Alcoba for next year. He will therefore have the opportunity this weekend to make his debut a little earlier than expected within the Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 team on a Honda.

To Jeremy Alcove, who are " Honestly, I'm looking forward to it. I have a great desire to test myself in Valencia. »

“Of course I feel sorry for Gabriel who deserved to race, but I will try to replace him properly and start working for next season. »

“I'm also going to have a very busy test day to start this great adventure. »
