During FP1 which opened hostilities in Indonesia for the category, Alberto Surra remained the fastest with a time of 1'51.050 minutes. The time gaps are tight since the first four drivers are less than a tenth of a second after an exercise completed on a drying track. Behind Surra, there are Deniz Öncü, Izan Guevara and Daniel Holgado. Carlos Tatay follows in fifth position. The drivers now have a first impression of the track. We will have to wait and see what the weather will be like in the afternoon in Mandalika where it might still rain..
It will be recalled that for this second meeting of the season, the veteran John mcphee is not in the running because he was injured in a Supermoto accident. The Scot fractured two vertebrae. Fortunately, he is doing well so far and no surgery is needed. McPhee wants to be back in Argentina in two weeks.
