The leader of the world championship and winner in Qatar, Andrea Migno, adapted better than anyone to this track which sealed the return of the Grands Prix to Indonesia. A completely new circuit for the 28 drivers on the grid. The Italian took FP1 calmly, seeing the delicate state of the Indonesian track due to the rain that had fallen all night, and, in the afternoon, with FP2 and the slicks mounted on his Honda, he went on the attack to score a 1'40.960 which became the official record for the Mandalika track.

A good start also for the Spaniard Carlos Tatay, who placed his CFMoto in second place, just over two tenths behind Migno in Friday's combined, followed by one of the big favorites to win the title, the Italian Dennis Foggia, who finished third, 299 thousandths behind his compatriot Migno. Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (4th +0,362) and the driver of the Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team and author of the first pole of the year in Qatar, Izan Guevara (+0,425) complete this top ranking. Jaume Masia also took the start of this Indonesian Grand Prix among the 10 fastest in the combined with an eighth place, almost six tenths behind Andrea Migno. Ortolá finished 10th (+0,650) and Ana Carrasco 28th (+2).

25° in the air and 26° on a wet track as it was on Friday are the conditions proposed to the drivers for these 40 minutes of practice. It's raining on Mandalika so that the bitumen will not yet go to the dryer. The first information of the day is therefore the following: it is a safe bet that those who were in Q1 on Friday evening in Indonesia will remain there this Saturday morning. A situation which will undoubtedly not only concern Moto3 riders…

The drivers set out to do their job, on tires designed for the rain, it goes without saying...

The first reference is signed by Xavier Artigas in 1'50.855, ahead Surrah et Öncü. The second city then accelerates in 1'50.124. holgado, Tuff et Garcia repel Artigas in fourth place. The track is really wet and there is a lot of spray coming from the tires. However, all 28 drivers are on the road because it could rain tomorrow for the race. That's why it's about finding a feeling in the rain and increasing the speed there.  Bartolini found the limit by falling at turn 5. He was sixth.

Halfway through the session, Deniz Oncu takes the lead in 1'49.067. The Tech3 driver is ahead Surra, Artigas, and the local Aji. Tuff fall at turn 1.

We are approaching the last ten minutes with Öncü, Ogden, Surra, Garcia, Artigas, Aji et Migno into leaders. With Ogden and the local hero Aji, two recruits are in the spotlight.

The rain stops and the weather falls in sight of the checkered flag. Migno slams a 1'48.780, ahead Suzukii who responds in 1'48.742. Rio fall at turn 5.

Most drivers have made a pit stop and are back on the road for the final minutes. We ride eight seconds less than the times in the dry. However, it will not be possible to run in any class with slicks this morning. At the end of the fighting, it is Migno who took the lead in 1'47.872. Surrah, Suzuki et Tatay follow. Aji et Artigas close the top 6. Lorenzo Fellon is 12th.
