By winning the Indonesian Grand Prix at the Mandalika circuit, Jose Antonio Rueda finished the Grand Prix with a lead of more than 100 points over Angel Piqueras, Maximo Quiles and David Muñoz, the three other riders still mathematically in the running for the title before the 18th round of the championship. The Spaniard was thus crowned Moto3 world champion at the end of the race, and although the interruption of the race by a red flag somewhat dampened the celebrations, the emotion was no less great at the finish.
Here is his reaction collected by MotoGP.com in the parc fermé. “It’s an incredible feeling. I remembered times when people didn’t believe in me, but I kept going, with my parents who always supported me, and all the people at home. I had a hard time believing it at first. I wouldn’t know how to put it into words. Thanks to everyone. I saw my father for everything, I thank him for everything, he taught me everything about life. Also Trigo, because he showed me discipline. Thanks to him. I’m very happy today.”
With nine wins and 13 podiums this season, Jose Antonio Rueda takes a logical title, succeeding David Alonso, 2024 world champion in the same category. The next step for the 19-year-old rider will be Moto2, like his predecessor. In 2026, he will be promoted to the same team that accompanied him this year in Moto3, Red Bull KTM Ajo. Before that, the 2025 world champion will have four races left to contest in the smallest of classes. The next race will take place in just over two weeks, at Phillip Island, during the Australian Grand Prix.
