Moto2 Q3 in Italy will have, to say the least, dampened the atmosphere at Mugello with this accident involving Sasaki, Alcoba and, above all, the promising Swiss Jason Dupasquier. The rescuers took great precautions to stabilize the pilot on the runway, who was evacuated by helicopter to Florence hospital after 40 minutes of immediate treatment. A development that is not good. As it is never a good sign to see the images of the facts removed…

Son of a former motocross rider, Jason Dupasquier first distinguished himself in supermoto – a discipline in which he was crowned Swiss Champion several times, before migrating towards speed. A successful jump, since he won the ADAC NEC M3 title in 2016. The following season, he tackled the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3, a program which he was subsequently to combine with the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, but the Swiss pilot fractures his left femur.

Forced to temporarily abandon competition, he returned in 2019 and placed fourth on several occasions in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. Rewarded for eighth place in the final, he then signed with the CarXpert Pruestel GP team in the world Moto3. However, he will not have the expected debut there, since his score will remain empty of any points. The team is therefore giving him a chance to make up for it in 2021. A campaign that he started with results good enough to show, before this Italian Grand Prix, tenth in the general classification with 27 points.

We are now waiting for news from the young 19-year-old Swiss... However, from the paddock we have received some worrying echoes, to say the least. Let's hope that the hours that follow will reverse the trend.

Sky MotoGP reports the press release from the Florence hospital: “ The conditions of Jason Dupasquier, involved in a fall at the Arrabbiata 2 corner of the Mugello circuit, during Moto3 qualifying, and transported by helicopter to the Careggi hospital in Florence, are complex. The Swiss pilot undergoes scans and magnetic resonance imaging on his entire body to check which is the most critical area to intervene urgently. It is possible that the pilot will then be transported to the operating room for surgery. ».

Update 16:45 p.m.:

The Gresini team has decided to postpone the tribute in honor of Fausto Gresini which was scheduled for today at 18 p.m. His son Luca should have completed a lap of the circuit with the Garelli 125cc world champion alongside the Moto2 and Moto3 riders of the Italian team.

Update 17:08 p.m.:

Dorna Sports journalist Neil Morrison reports the first official comments from Doctor Giancarlo Di Filippo, FIM doctor for MotoGP: “He was transferred in (hemodynamically) stable condition to Florence hospital. We are awaiting more information from the hospital. At the moment we know that his condition is very serious. »
