Moto3 Italy Qualifying

Moto3 qualifying is now over in Italy! Doing well in this exercise is absolutely essential to secure a good grid position; a determining factor in this era. It was very difficult to predict the favorite for this session, as the previous ones had been so closely contested. First, it was championship leader José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) who struck first, during FP1. Then, Honda Leopard Racing rider David Almansa did better during Practice. And finally, Earlier this morning, Briton Scott Ogden (KTM CIP Green Power) led FP2, to everyone's surprise. It was still necessary to keep an eye on the rookies Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Maximo Quiles (KTM CFMoto Aspar Team), who were also very fast.

Even if you already know the outcome of this session, come and relive it with us! Before we begin, here is a table which summarizes the known facts:

During the first qualifying session, Maximo Quiles stood out from the rest; it must be said that he was there only by bad luck, not having been able to record a significant time in the final moments of Practice yesterday. The others rescued are David munoz (KTM Liqui Moly Intact GP), Vicente Perez (Honda GRYD – MLav Racing) and Dennis Foggia (KTM CFMoto Aspar Team). But Quiles crashed at the very end. The mechanics must therefore work on the bike to allow him to return to Q2 as quickly as possible.

Here we go for Q2, where everything will be decided! Alvaro Carpe hits very hard, but watch out for the Argentinian Valentin Perrone (KTM Tech3).

Scott Ogden, first in FP2 this morning, is again very fast. He is one to watch. But Jose Antonio Rueda, dominant at the start of the year, is doing even better. For its part, Ryusei Yamanaka (KTM MT Helmets MSi) suffers a mechanical breakdown at the worst possible time.

Everything can still change with one loop to go. And on the last lap, the rookie Alvaro Carpe takes pole position! Incredible! Jose Antonio Rueda will start second, ahead Scott Ogden, Angel Piqueras et Jacob Roulstone (Red Bull KTM Tech3). This is Carpe's first pole in Moto3, what an accomplishment! It remains to be seen whether he can convert it into a victory tomorrow.
