Moto3 Italy Qualifying

Moto3 qualifying is over in Italy! At Mugello, David Alonso has gained a clear advantage over his competitors, and will hope to take advantage of his prowess in order to escape to the front tomorrow at 11 a.m. As has been the case for a few Grands Prix now, a wind of domination is blowing across the Moto3 field. David Alonso (CFMoto Aspar Team), winner four times this season, had dominated the FP like P1 and P2. Behind him, others posed a threat, like Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP), Ryusei Yamanaka (KTM MT Helmets MSi) and Ivan Ortola, his teammate. In the realm of aspiration, you had to be careful, but now the chips are down.

Even if you already know the beginning of this session, come relive it with us! Before we begin, here is a table which summarizes the known facts:

The Moto3 qualifying takes place in very good conditions. In Q1, some good names stand out. Of course, David Munoz (KTM Boé Motorsports), second in Jerez, Philip Farioli (Honda Sic58 Squadra Corsica), quite fast since the start of the season, the promising rookie Angel Piqueras (Honda Leopard Racing), the other rookie Joel Esteban (CFMoto Aspar Team), Matthew Bertelli (Honda Snipers Team), but above all, Joel Kelso (KTM Boé Motorsports), well placed in the championship and already signed with MTA LEVELUP for next year.

However, he is the astonishing rookie Nicholas Carraro (KTM LEVELUP MTA) which is illustrated first. He is ahead Scott Ogden (Honda MLav Racing), who has had a much more complicated start to the year.

Later, the Boé Motorsports Kelso/Munoz duo helped each other and took the lead, with Munoz in the lead. But in the last lap, everything changes: Scott Ogden is the first to qualify, just ahead Munoz et Kelso. They will be joined in Q2 by Philip Farioli ; this means that an elimination awaits Joel Esteban, fifth, and Angel Piqueras, sixth.

On to Q2, with the same favorite again and again: David Alonso. However, Ivan Ortola strikes first, he who had already achieved pole in Catalonia last week. He is soon overtaken by Collin Veijer, and becomes the first to go under 1'55.

However, the man to be killed remains David Alonso, and everyone is waiting for him at the exit of the stands! It is directly followed by Ivan Ortola. At the same time, Collin Veijer improves slightly, alone on the track. But Ivan Ortola do better! Led by David Alonso, the pilot MT Helmets MSi did better than the Colombian provisionally second. Alonso can't seem to get away from it.

Big fall for Collin Veijer ! Fortunately, he manages to get back on his bike and can finish the session. But in the last round, David Alonso manages to stick two tenths to Ivan Ortola ! Despite the Spaniard's aspirations, he won this session in the final lap.

Everything was very lively in the last seconds. Jose Antonio Rueda moved up to third place, Veijer was relegated to fourth position. Daniel Holgado will start from fifth row, but it will take a miracle to hold off Alonso at the start.
