Moto3 Italy Racing

Always merciless, the Moto3 race in Italy promised a great spectacle. And finally, David Alonso had the last word against opponents who could never stop his genius. Here he is now better placed than ever in the general ranking, just before a three-week break. Before the start, one favorite stood out from the rest. David Alonso (CFMoto Aspar Team) led FP, P1, P2 and qualifying. The Colombian is also the new lap record holder. But as is often the case, competitors are never far away in the smallest of categories. Ivan Ortola (KTM MT Helmets MSi), on pole in Barcelona, wanted it a lot, at least as much as José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo), third on the grid. We had to be wary of Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP), in sight all weekend, and of course, of Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GasGas Tech3), a little behind but always quick to strike hard.

So, even if you already know the result of the Italian Grand Prix, come back and experience it with us! Before we begin, here is a table which summarizes the known facts:

The track is dry in Italy, which promises a great race. The lights go out... here we go !

Huge departure from David Alonso et Ivan Ortola, who instantly gain half a second on their pursuers! Very good flight Taiyo Furusato (Honda Team Asia), who is third at the start of the first turn. It's a struggle, but no fall to deplore. Collin Veijer remains in fourth place, while Daniel Holgado didn't do so well: he was 8th after one lap.

Alonso was very scared in the Arrabiata, which allowed ortola to get closer. But despite everything, the Spaniard is not able to really get closer. It's incredible ! Even suction does not allow ortola to overtake him at the end of the immense straight line! Alonso's KTM runs with the fire of God.

Two falls should be noted: Philip Farioli First of all (Honda Sic58 Squadra Corsica), as well as that of the rookie Xabi Zurutuza (Red Bull KTM Ajo). The two collided, it was hot. While Veijer had just doubled ortola, a red flag is presented to the competitors. Rest assured, Sweetheart is in good health despite his impressive fall. We later learned that he suffered from trauma to his back, but he never lost consciousness. Maybe there's debris littering the trail. The race will be restarted for 11 laps, and the starting positions will be those retained at the end of the third lap.

About ten minutes later, and here we go again! When the lights go out for the second time, the start is much more compact than the first. Collin Veijer rises to the height ofIvan Ortola and David Alonso, while behind, Jose Antonio Rueda fall ! He takes a pilot with him, who appears to be Stefano Nepa (KTM LEVELUP MTA). Daniel Holgado seems involved, but the image has not been shown to us. The incident is under investigation.

Twenty minutes after his first fall, Tatsuki Suzuki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) falls again. In the straight line, Collin Veijer take advantage of the speed of his Husqvarna to pass everyone and take the lead! Taiyo Furusato is extremely strong too, he should not be neglected. David Munoz (KTM Boé Motorsports), who had started the weekend badly, came back behind the leaders, jostling for position.

The sanction fell for Daniel Holgado ! He is forced to do two long laps for the incident that sent Rueda to the mat. Up front, it's much tighter than before, no doubt about it. But David Alonso, again and again, seems able to create a small gap. The leading group is well identified: it is composed of David Alonso, Collin Veijer, Ivan Ortola and his teammate Ryusei Yamanaka, Taiyo Furusato et David munoz. Daniel Holgado, he is struggling in the depths of the ranking.

With five rounds remaining, David Alonso decides to put an end to the general fun. He gains tenths visibly, and creates a lead of 0.6s almost easily. He is alone in his league. Veijer passes second, but catching the Colombian seems impossible.

The gap is a little reduced, but this push from a few laps ago is too difficult to counter. Veijer hangs on, and manages to open a gap between himself and the third.

And finally, without much surprise given the action of these last rounds, David Alonso is essential! Collin Veijer is second on the line, whileIvan Ortola fall in the last turn! Amazing ! Ryusei Yamanaka thus manages to get on the podium, offered by his teammate.

David Alonso thus takes its third consecutive victory, and the fifth of the season. Colin Veijer does not deserve anything, after three crazy laps at the end, and takes a good option in the championship. Ivan Ortola managed to get back on his machine to finish sixth, in order to save the furniture. Daniel Holgado, in rout, still scores two important points, even if Alonso has now flown to the championship. After a good start to the season, Ryusei Yamanaka takes his first career podium here! Bravo to him.
