At the end of the first day of free practice for this Andalusian Grand Prix, Raul Fernandez (Red Bull KTM Ajo) occupied first position in 1'45.896 ahead Tatsuki suzuki (SIC58 Squadra Corse), Filip Salač (Rivacold Snipers Team), gabriel rodrigo (Kömmerling Gresini Moto3), Andrea Migno (Sky Racing Team VR46), Carlos Tatay (Reale Avintia Moto3), Jeremy Alcoba (Kömmerling Gresini Moto3), Tony Arbolino (Rivacold Snipers Team), John McPhee (Petronas Sprinta Racing) and Stefano Nepa ( Solunion Aspar Team Moto3).
For the man who set the best time on Friday, Raúl Fernández, “I'm very happy with how the day went. We've been working here for over a week, and it shows. The team and I are clear: we know the tire we are going to use and the configuration that best suits this circuit. I felt comfortable with all kinds of erasers and that's a positive thing. On this Saturday morning, the air temperature was 24° and the track temperature was 28°. Weather conditions were about the same as last week, with a few degrees warmer predicted for the afternoon. On the other hand, the rubber deposit on the track was more abundant. The benchmark time was the 1'45.465 set by Tatsuki Suzuki last week to take pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix.

The goal in the third session this morning was to qualify among the 14 fastest in free practice to be transferred directly to Q2. After the first two sessions, 14th place was occupied by World Championship leader Albert Arenas, in 1'46.649.
Alonso López (Husqvarna Sterilgarda Max Racing Team) was withdrawn due to injury and his teammate Romano Fenati suffered a foot injury. The situation was unfavorable for Max Biaggi's team. The nature of López's medical problem was not revealed due to medical confidentiality, and his indisposition was not a priori linked to his competitive activities.
The first fast time was to the credit of John McPhee (Petronas Sprinta Racing) with a very good time of 1'46.035, 0.3 ahead of Ai Ogura (John McPhee (Petronas Sprinta Racing), 0.5 ahead of Jaume Masiá (Honda Leopard Racing) and Sergio Garcia (Honda Estrella Galicia 0,0).

Darryn Binder (KTM CIP Green Power) moved into second position, 0.087 behind McPhee.
Tatsuki Suzuki (SIC58 Squadra Corse) took the lead in 1'45.669, followed by Albert Arenas at 0.098, Gabriel Rodrigo at 0.160 and Filip Salač at 0.268. Suzuki was then only about 0.2 away from his circuit record set last Saturday.

12 minutes from the checkered flag, John McPhee set a new circuit record in 1'45.346! He was then ahead of Suzuki by 0.323, Masiá by 0.411, Arenas by 0.421 and Rodrigo by 0.483.

Andrea Migno (SKY Racing Team VR46) in turn broke the Jerez – Angel Nieto Circuit Moto3 record with a time of 1'45.165. Filip Salač fell in Turn 13 two minutes from the end, without seriousness. Tatsuki Suzuki fell shortly after in Turn 2, also without damage.
