Moto3 Jerez P2

It is now important for Moto3 riders to warm up before qualifying, and it starts right away with P2 at Jerez. The favorites are there, but yesterday, David Alonso (CFMoto Aspar Moto3) already obliterated all competition. Leading the FP and P1 with a one second lead each time, he begins this session as a big favorite. Joel Kelso (KTM Boé Motorsports) is in good shape, as is Ivan Ortola (KTM MT Helmets MSi), and rookie Jacob Roulstone (Red Bull GasGas tech3). Daniel Holgado, his teammate at Tech3 and leader of the championship, is a little further away but remains a threat not to be underestimated. José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo), already absent in Austin due to an attack of appendicitis, was not feeling well; thus, he leaves it to Vicente Perez to replace him for the weekend.

Who was the fastest in this P2? Even if you already know the result, come relive the session with us! Before we begin, here is a table which summarizes the known facts:

It's raining in Jerez! Amazing. Even if it was announced, and feared by pilots, it is extremely rare in Andalusia. So, no driver is expected to improve on yesterday's time, and therefore, those who failed to move into the top 14 after P1 are in danger.

David munoz (KTM Boé Motorsports) leads the debates, while Vicente Perez, replacing Wheel, is also part of the good group. David Alonso is not the most comfortable in the wet, but it remains in the top 10.

Then, Tatsuki suzuki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP), winner in Argentina last year in similar conditions, wakes up. Clearly, if the rain continues to fall in Jerez, he will be one of the favorites. Xabi Zurutuza, the brilliant Basque signed by KTM Ajo, is also easy. The latter is the first to go under the two-minute mark per lap. Too bad for him, he won't go directly to Q2.

Angel Piqueras (Honda Leopard Raicng), rookie winner of the JuniorGP championship and the MotoGP Red Bull Rookies Cup in 2023, is a first time. But David Alonso, still going strong, is not impressed by the wet. The times improve lap after lap.

Not being trapped is essential. Jacob Roulstone (GasGas Red Bull Tech3) is the first to get trapped, and heavily at the exit of the last turn. The Australian rookie will be in Q2, and had a very good performance yesterday.

Shortly after, it is Xabi Zurutuza who is missing out on it! What a rescue. David Alonso, he doesn't slow down in the slightest. The Colombian is still in front, and nothing, not even the weather, seems to be able to stop him.

Great performance from the rookie Joel Esteban (CFMoto Aspar Moto3), as well asAngel Piqueras. The qualifications promise to be very competitive, without a doubt.
