There are still four Grands Prix to go, but there is one man in the paddock who has already finished his season. This one is a Brad Binder, close to Jack Miller, who in Aragon became the third South African to become World Champion. An event for this country which is rediscovering the joys of motorcycling thanks to its compatriot: “ I think the impact was quite significant. I have received an incredible number of requests from the media” commented Bendsneyder's teammate on MotoGP.com. “My phone was ringing every two seconds. I had to leave it in the car all weekend. Since this Sunday, I have spoken with seven or eight media in my country, something is changing”.
Speaking of change, Brad Binder also experienced his metamorphosis. And the KTM official who will go to Moto2 to take advantage of Mattighofen's new chassis for the category, knows exactly when it happened: “I would say it’s in Jerez. To come back from last position and win was incredible. Plus, it was also my first victory, I couldn’t have hoped for better”. An energy, a certainty which then accompanied him: “Every time I found myself in difficulty, I thought about this victory, which I had won by starting last, and it served to convince me that I could win on any circuit”.
With the essentials established, what’s next for Binder? Rest assured, he will not rest on his freshly picked laurels: “These are four races for which our objective will be to have fun and to go to each circuit with the ambition to give the best. It will probably be a strange feeling because I have often had to be careful this year whereas now I will be able to aim for victory every time.”
And then winning with a KTM on Honda territory is a pleasure that cannot be refused.
