Martin and di Giannantonio have started to focus on 2018, a year which will be crucial for both riders who are now aiming for the top within the Del Conca Gresini Moto3 team. Martin achieved 9 pole positions this season (including a demotion to 13th, at Mugello) and won the last race of the year in Valencia, the first Moto3 GP victory of his career. Di Giannantonio reached the podium five times and finished fifth in the Championship, just behind his Spanish teammate.

Jorge Martin enjoyed a well-deserved vacation in Punta Cana with five-time World Champion Jorge Lorenzo. He also spent time in his hometown of Madrid and in Andorra, where he followed an intensive cycling program – always in the good company of some MotoGP stars – as well as gym training and cross-country skiing in the magnificent valleys near Andorra.

“I have to admit that these holidays were like a gift from heaven because given my injury this summer, I wasn't able to do anything. So I had to stop a little, for a week,” Jorge said. “ I gained 7kg (laughs) but I’ve already lost half of it because of training.”

“I don't push too much because we don't want to get too far ahead of the preparation, but we train in the best way possible by cycling, skiing and gym. For 2018, we are mainly working on our endurance, in order to have a good base for January, and then increase our workload. We will have to wait until February to get back on the bike, but we will be ready! »

On the contrary, Fabio di Giannantonio never stopped riding a motorcycle. Without forgetting his training program, the Italian took part in the Sic Supermoto Day in the first days of December and this weekend he participated in the Superprestigio in Barcelona, where he finished fifth and first Italian.

“The Superprestigio was a spectacular event and I'm really happy to have finished fifth, said Fabio. To be honest, I didn't expect such a result, because I wasn't fast in practice or in qualifying. »

“As the race progressed, I got faster and faster. I finished third in my category but also made it to the final. It was a great battle with the Americans. I could have finished fourth but I'm happy. It was a great experience but also the best way to stay in shape. »

Jorge Martin and Fabio Di Giannantonio will be back on track from February 6 for the first test of 2018.
