It was at the end of a Red Bull Rookies Cup season in which he finished in fifth position (out of twenty-five classified) that Lorenzo, the son of Laurent and Andrea Fellon, signed with the team. by Emilio Alzamora, manager of Márquez and Director of Monlau Competicion who in his time welcomed Fabio Quartararo in CEV Moto3.

It was in 2013 that El Diablo won the CEV Moto3 Championship with the Wild Wolf Racing team, then again in 2014 – in what had become the Junior World Championship – with the Monlau Competicion team, entered in the race under the name “Junior Team Estrella Galicia 0,0”. In 2015, Fabio had an official Honda in GP Moto3 in the Estrella Galicia 0,0 team, also managed by Alzamora.

The Monlau school was founded by Pio Ventura in 1997 to meet the demand for technical specialists in the field of motor sports. The Monlau Repsol technical school has become a reference for the training of pilots, mechanics and engineers specializing in motorcycle racing and motor racing. Emilio Alzamora (World Champion in 125 cm3 in 1999) is the CEO of the Monlau Repsol Technical School.

It is therefore a good opportunity for Lorenzo Fellon, because the CEV is followed by access to the official Honda Grand Prix sector.

According to Lorenzo “ I am very happy and honored to join the Monlau family and the Junior Team Estrella Galicia for the 2020 season of the Junior Moto3 World Championship. Together we will fight to play at the forefront and conquer the title. This is an opportunity for me to introduce my new manager, Marco Larcinese. Thank you for your trust, let the adventure begin! »

Lorenzo explains his career so far: “ I started at 5 years old with my father in the paddock of a karting circuit in the south of France. The first time I touched a motorcycle was an incredible moment. So I decided to start riding motorcycles and do everything I could to one day become a professional rider. »

“My father was also a runner, but he finished his career due to lack of money. But his passion was so strong that he stayed in the motorcycle world. My father plays a big role in my career and also my mother. They make a lot of sacrifices to keep my dream alive. My sponsors help me a lot too. »

“My father’s job is manager and trainer of future pilots. He created a school called Z&F Grand Prix School to help young French drivers access the World Championship. My mother works with my father at the Z&F Grand Prix school. She's the school secretary. »

“I want to be MotoGP World Champion. I learned a lot about self-control during the 2019 season. I also learned a lot about battling, overtaking and using the rear brake. »

“My best race ever was last year in Aragón during the European Talent Cup. I started in 7th position, I had a very bad start (in the first corner I was 15th or 16th) and during the race, the first group of seven drivers opened up a gap on my group and I knew that I I had the pace to recover this gap. I passed two guys on the last corner, one on the outside and one on the inside and started to get my rhythm. There was a significant gap between me and the first group (12 seconds). After six laps I made up that gap and fought for the win. Finally, due to a fall, the race stopped, and I finished 8th, 0.7 from victory. »

“In 2020 I want to gain as much experience as possible and continue to learn more about my riding and myself. But also, I want to make a few podiums and finish in a good place in the Championship standings. »

“My hero is Marc Márquez. Since I was young, I have watched him on TV and in the paddock. He is incredible, my motivation is his race in Estoril in 2010, when he crashed on the warm-up lap, he started last and eventually won the race. »

“What gives me the most satisfaction in racing is everything around the bike. Training hard to achieve my goals, never giving up in difficult times and enjoying when you win, that excites me. »
