Arriving at the Sepang circuit for the Malaysian Grand Prix, Izan Guevara (Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team) has already been crowned Moto3 world champion and the suspense therefore shifts to the other two steps of the podium, contested by three riders: Sergio García (Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team) which regained 2nd position in the general classification in Australia by 2 points, Dennis Foggia (Leopard Racing) still solid despite a modest 9th place at Phillip Island, and Ayumu Sasaki (Sterilgarda Husqvarna Max), in excellent form since his victory at Assen but who concedes 18 points to the Aspar rider while a maximum of 50 units can now be acquired before the end of the season.
As in Japan or Australia, past references date from 2019, but certain names already in the spotlight at that time are still present, such as for example Tatsuki suzuki (Leopard Racing), circuit record holder, or Deniz Oncu (Red Bull KTM Tech3), still looking for his first victory despite his third hard-won 2nd place in Australia.
The 31 drivers now have 40 minutes to familiarize themselves with the Malaysian track, under a gray sky but on a dry track and temperatures of 26 degrees in the air and 32 degrees on the ground.

At the end of the first round, the first reference is entered by Andrea Migno (Rivacold Snipers Team) in 2'16.080, five seconds off the best times achieved on the Malaysian track.
On the next pass, we are directly in 2'14.475 with Dennis Foggia, then 2'14.064 with Jaume Masia (Red Bull KTM Ajo) one lap later.
Dennis Foggia regained the advantage in 2'13.976 before the end of the first run, on a circuit where the two long straights are essential for the small Moto3s.
The two big straights to end the lap are a huge feature of Sepang! 💨

In the wake, Sergio García moves to second position but Dennis Foggia replies in 2'12.226 ahead Ayumu Sasaki et Izan Guevara.
The perfect start for @dennisfoggia71! 🔝
