Moto3 Malaysia Race

Once again, the Moto3 competitors treated us to a treat in Malaysia during this race. They gave it their all for forty minutes, but unfortunately, there can only be one winner. Before the start, David Alonso (CFMoto Aspar Team) was the favourite, as he was on a five-race winning streak. In fact, he had finished first in P1. However, it was still necessary to be wary of certain opponents, starting with the Honda Leopard Racing duo. Rookie Angel Piqueras, leader of the FP, was replaced by Adrian Fernandez in P2 and in qualifying. This pole position symbolises the good dynamic of Raul's little brother in recent times. Of course, it was necessary to keep an eye on the usual outsiders Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GasGas Tech3), Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) and Ivan Ortola (KTM MT Helmets MSi).

Do you already know the result of this race? It doesn't matter, come and relive it with us!

Starting from the front row, Ivan Ortola took the holeshot at the start of the race. However, it was David Almansa, who started on a softer tyre combination, who finished the first lap in the lead.

The first lap was marked by an incident that eliminated Joel Esteban and Riccardo Rossi at turn 2. Daniel Holgado would be the third rider to have to retire from the race, after an over-optimistic attempt to overtake Ivan Ortola sent him to the mat. This incident also compromised David Alonso's chances of victory. The Colombian, who avoided the crash, thus fell to eleventh position.

The excitement at the start of the race did not stop there, however, as an engine failure forced Adrian Fernandez to retire. Angel Piqueras would follow him a few laps later, returning to his garage to retire.

David Alonso does not give up, and by the fifth lap, he is already in sixth position, and is running five tenths faster than the leader. It will then only take him a few corners to get rid of Collin Veijer and Ivan Ortola. Joel Kelso, Taiyo Furusato and David Almansa are then his next targets. The hard front tyre seems however to take the advantage compared to the soft, and the n°80 continues at his frantic pace.

David Almansa is indeed suffering with his tires, and David Alonso takes advantage of this from the sixth lap of the event, before other drivers take advantage of this difficult part of the race for the n°22.

At the halfway point, the top five is unrecognisable from the order in which the drivers started. However, the victory seems to be decided between Kelso, Furusato (who started from 5th position) and Alonso. Ortola is not to be excluded either, and is starting to catch up with the leading trio.

In a fight with Furusato, Kelso cracks under the pressure and goes wide, which benefits his competitors. The Moto3 world champion then follows in Furusato's wake.

As he stumbles behind the leader, preparing his attack. Ivan Ortola returns to the leading duo, and takes four riders in his wheel. Veijer, Kelso, Yamanaka and Rueda complete a top-7 which can then quite believe in the Moto3 victory in Malaysia during this race.

It was then that David Alonso launched an attack on Taiyo Furusato under braking, in the last corner of the circuit. The Colombian took the lead, and increased the pace. Only Furusato was able to follow him. Ortola's group quickly lost half a second on the two men.

David Alonso repels all the attacks of his adversary in the last lap, braking to the limit in each curve. He thus wins the Moto3 race of the Malaysian GP, his thirteenth victory of the season, his sixth consecutive, equaling a new record of Valentino Rossi.

Jose Antonio Rueda emerges victorious from the battle for fifth place, ahead of Ivan Ortola and Collin Veijer. Leading for the first three laps, David Almansa struggles with his tires and finishes eleventh.
