Ana Carrasco

This season, the Moto3 grid has a Supersport 300 world champion on its roster in Ana Carrasco. It thus brings a touch of femininity to an essentially male peloton and it also makes it possible to evaluate the two entry categories, one for the Grands Prix and the other for the WSBK. For the moment, looking at the results, there is no photo and the driver talks about it in a mid-season report which would depress more than one person. But not her...

Ana Carrasco returned to Moto3 after a first experience spent at the back of the grid from 2013 to 2015. But this return offers him the same places as in the past, and his world title acquired in 2018 in Supersport300 has apparently changed nothing. Nestled within the BOÉ team of José Ángel Gutiérrez Boé she collected no points in eleven races, her best result being a 19è rank in Indonesia. Her KTM is not in question since since a certain David munoz used it as a teammate, the bike shows indisputable qualities.

After this first part of the campaign, she made this assessment: “ the first part of the season was not easy for me », recognizes the pilot of 25 years on speedweek. " I'm still looking for the limits of the tires and the bike, this is currently my biggest problem. We improved from race to race, but not as much as I initially thought ».

But she does not disarm: “ after the summer break we will definitely take a step forward. I don't have a specific objective for the second part of the season, of course I want to reduce the gap with the best drivers and go faster. If I get a little faster on each track, I can fight for better positions ».

Ana Carrasco: “ I know that I am a fast driver and capable of fighting for victories and maybe the World Championship«

Comparing World Championship races supersport300 with those of Moto3, Ana Carrasco underlines : " the 300cc races are a little crazier because there are so many young riders. In 2021 there were 42 of us on the grid. Everything is very close in Moto3, but with fewer riders it is easier to win races. Of course it was much easier for me in the WSSP300 because I was faster there than now ».

For her future, the only female participant in the motorcycle world championship is sticking to her ambitious goal. “ It's a dream for me to enter MotoGP. But right now it's just important for me to be competitive. I know that I am a fast driver and capable of fighting for victories and perhaps the World Championship. But only in the future and not this year ».

Ana Carrasco ends lucidly: “ It's hard to think about the future right now because I don't know where I will be in the next few years, it all depends on the results. If I'm fast, I'll have a lot of opportunities for next season, but if I'm slow, I won't have anything. It's the same for everyone ».
