Le Max Racing Team 2021 is off to a strong start by somewhat reviewing its plans decided in 2020. The structure thus announces that it has decided on the younger brother of Raul fernandez to the detriment of a Alonso Lopez who nevertheless had a contract. A turnaround which surprised the Spaniard whose first reaction reflected disappointment: “ there was a signed contract, I am surprised and disappointed » comments the pilot.
The cause of this change is unknown, but the effect is complete and it is the first big surprise of the 2021 world championship: Alonso lopez is no longer a Max Racing Team driver. Max Biaggi, in fact, has decided to end its working relationship with Lopez, while banking for the next Moto3 season on Adrian Fernandez, little brother of Raul fernandez.
The news was announced by the Spanish press, which however did not reveal the reasons for the sudden separation, only citing the reasons linked to the contribution of a sponsor. It was certainly not an affectionate or even consensual farewell, given that the words ofAlonso Lopez which leave no room for interpretation: “ it's really difficult to be without a bike in December and with the season starting a few months later. It's difficult to accept when you have signed a contract to continue racing with your team ».

Alonso lopez adds that he immediately wants to find another handlebar, although he is aware that he will have difficulty finding a new opportunity in the world championship, since the places on the roads are taken. He was present in Moto3 since 2018 and claims a podium acquired in Buriram in 2019.
Lopez released, the Max Racing Team, therefore welcomes with open arms the very young Fernandez, born in 2004, to share the box with Roman Fenati. Nicknamed Pitito, he competed in CEV in 2020, also having the opportunity to make his appearance in the world championship as a substitute Salac on the Team Snipers motorcycle.
