For this San Marino Grand Prix in Misano, Deniz Öncü qualified on pole for the fourth time in Moto3 and for the third time since the start of the year, with Portugal and Italy. He will try to win his first victory in this category. Four riders have won from pole at Misano in Moto3 since its introduction in 2012: Sandro Cortese (2012) and Brad Binder (2016) on KTM, and Enea Bastianini (2015) and Tatsuki Suzuki (2019) on Honda.

In pole position during the last race, Daniel Holgado qualified in second position, which is the fourth time he has qualified in the top 3 in Moto3. His best result is a sixth place obtained in Germany and at the Dutch TT this year.

Diogo Moreira qualified in third position, which is the third time he has qualified in the top three in his rookie season. He will try to get on his first podium. Ryusei Yamanaka qualified in fourth position, his second best qualifying result since the start of the season, after Great Britain where he qualified in third position. He started fourth in Qatar but qualified sixth. His best result at Misano in Moto3 is an 11th place obtained last year during the Emilia-Romagna GP.

Second in the championship, Izan Guevara qualified in fifth position, which is the ninth time this year he has qualified in the top six. He finished 12th in the two Moto3 races he competed in at Misano last year.

Third in the Championship, Dennis Foggia qualified in seventh position, which is the fourth time this year that he has failed to qualify in the top six. He will attempt to become the first rider to achieve three Moto3 victories on one circuit.

Sergio Garcia, championship leader, qualified in 13th position, which is the fourth consecutive time that he has not qualified on the first three rows. He will attempt to reach the podium for the first time since his third place at Assen.
