Valencian world champion Nico Terol will replace Gino Borsoi, who leaves the team after 17 seasons.

The world champion Nico Terol will be the new sports director of the GASGAS Aspar team from 2023. Terol, who until now held the position of sports advisor of the Aspar Team Junior, will replace Gino Borsoi, sports director of the team since 2006. The GASGAS Aspar team wishes him the best of luck in the new challenges he will face in the future.

The career of Nico Terol is related to Jorge Martínez "Aspar" since his beginnings, when he made his mini-moto debut in 1999 in Formula Airtel (now known as Cuna de Campeones), which aimed to train young riders for the world championship. Terol made the jump to the world championship at the 2004 Comunitat Valenciana Grand Prix, curiously in Gino Borsoi's team. In 2011, after joining Jorge Martínez “Aspar” in 2010, he became the last 125cc world champion.

Currently, and since 2017, Nico Terol is the sports advisor of the Aspar Team Junior. In almost six seasons under his leadership, the team has won three Moto3 Junior World Championship titles, a European Talent Cup, a Red Bull Rookies Cup title and two Spanish championships.

Jorge Martínez "Aspar" : " I would like to thank Gino Borsoi for his work and dedication for so many years within the Team Aspar family. Together we grew and became who we are and I wish him the best of luck in this new stage he faces. He leaves a very big void in the team, but we are sure that Nico Terol, with his experience and all the knowledge he has acquired during his years as a rider and, above all, during his years with Aspar Team Junior, will help us continue to grow and achieve many more successes. »

Nico Terol : " Jorge Martínez “Aspar” has been a huge pillar in my life and I am who I am thanks to him. We have met three times in this life: the first time, when I was starting out in mini-motorcycles; the second, when I became world champion; and the third, when I started to guide the young riders of the team with my experience. I will now take a step further by taking on the responsibilities of the team's sporting director, a role that Gino Borsoi played brilliantly. I will work from day one to be up to the task and repay Jorge Martínez “Aspar” and the entire GASGAS Aspar team for the trust they have placed in me. »
