Born on October 16, 1999 in Montecchio Emilia, Nicolo became known when he received the support of the VR46 Riders Academy to race in FIM CEV Repsol Moto3, where he won the title in 2015. He then had a good 2016 season in Grand Prix, with 1 victory, 2 podiums and a pole position, which meant he finished seventh in the general classification.

In 2017, he only managed to finish twelfth, with only a fourth place in Germany. His KTM was not the most efficient, but he was preceded in the final ranking by the four identical Austrian machines from Marcos Ramirez, Andrea Migno, Philipp Öttl and Juanfran Guevara.

The time has come in 2018 for Bulega to prove his worth within Sky Racing Team VR46 in Moto3. He has a meeting with his KTM and his team at the start of next week in Andalusia.

Nicolò, ready for the Jerez tests?

“Yes, there will be the first tests next week, I am already very busy because last year was not a good season, certainly not the one I expected. We understood our mistakes, we sorted things out, some changes were made in the team and all this is very important. »

You admitted very easily that you made mistakes and learned from them. But now you are waiting for help from KTM too?

“I made mistakes, there's no point hiding it, I also had physical problems, I broke my foot, a finger, six vertebrae... Certainly, the Honda was stronger than the KTM but this manufacturer made it understood and I'm sure we will find a more ready bike that will allow us to do better. »

Do you feel like a mature pilot?

“Not getting the results you want makes you mature, as well as having to overcome difficult times at 17 or 18.”

What did he tell you Valentino Rossi ?

“We see Valentino every day at the gym, we have a great relationship. He tells us to give the best of ourselves, to train properly and then, with work, the results will come.”

Is being among the favorites for the title a burden or a stimulus?

“I'm not saying anything because last year I was unbalanced, and then I didn't do well. »
