For once, it was the Algarve circuit which hosted the Portuguese Grand Prix this weekend, the final meeting of the 2020 season.

For Darryn Binder, it was also his last event under the colors of CIP-GREEN POWER. Although penalized by a Long Lap during the second free practice session, the South African managed to reach Q2 to qualify in 18th position.

In the race, Darryn Binder once again made an extraordinary comeback to conclude the final race of the year in sixth place and eighth in the general classification with two podiums, including a victory in Catalonia.

Darryn Binder (6th) : " It was a new circuit for me that I had never raced on before. So I had to learn the route on Friday. Unfortunately, I was penalized with a Long Lap due to my driving which was considered irresponsible. I drove too slowly. It was a real disappointment. On Saturday, I managed to find my feet. The team gave me a very good bike and I was able to pass the repechage stage. I made a mistake in Q2, I didn't set times at the start and I was surprised by the checkered flag. So I had to start from 18th position. We started with the Long Lap. This is really not how I wanted to start this last GP with the CIP. Regardless, I went out and did my best. I gave my best every lap. I managed to finish sixth. I can't thank the guys enough for everything they've done for me, for the whole team, for everyone, for all the sponsors. Thank you so much. I feel like I've grown a lot as a person and as a driver this year. I enjoyed my two years at CIP. I'm really grateful and happy that we were able to finish the season strong. I'm super happy and I'm going to miss everyone. I wish them nothing but the best. »

Alain Bronec (Team Owner) : " Darryn once again had a fantastic race. He started from 18th place and then had to perform a Long Lap. Starting from 15th or 16th, he made a good comeback to sixth position. Wearing a soft tire, he lost a little grip, but he still managed to get back into the group. He fought until the end. »
« We thank Darryn for these two wonderful years spent with us. I would also like to thank the whole team, all our sponsors. We managed to do all these races despite extremely difficult conditions. We are excited about this year. We wish there were spectators, but we hope that Team CIP Green Power gave a lot of joy to all viewers. We look forward to seeing you next year with Kaito Toba and Maximilian Kofler. »
