Alongside Swiss Jason Dupasquier, the Saxon PrüstelGP team will start the first race of the season with young German talent Dirk Geiger, in Qatar on March 8, 2020.

Dirk Geiger is not completely unknown, since it has already attracted attention at the Sachsenring this year, as a wildcard in the Moto3 category, with its design in honor of Ralf Waldmann. This wildcard at the Sachsenring in 2019 was a cooperation between the Kiefer Racing team and PrüstelGP. Since then, the team has been in close contact with Dirk Geiger and his closest supporter and promoter Peter Bales (PB Motorsport Events), whose commitment also opened the doors to the 2 Moto2019 World Championship for the German Lukas Tulovic with Team Kiefer Racing.

Dirk Geiger will take part in the first four races of the 2020 season in Qatar, Thailand, the United States and Argentina for the German PrüstelGP team. If everything goes according to plan and Dirk holds his place in the World Championship, the PrüstelGP Team will support him for other wildcards, such as at his home Grand Prix at the Sachsenring.

Together with Peter Bales, PrüstelGP is currently working to give Dirk Geiger further opportunities to race on a Moto3 in 2020, perhaps even to be considered as a possible regular rider for PrüstelGP in 2021. Dirk is a 6-time Moto2010 champion. Germany, starting with the Pocketbike (DM 2011, 2012), the Minibike (DM 2013, 2015), the ADAC Junior Cup (3), and the ADAC Northern European Cup Moto2016 (DM 2017, 2018). Since XNUMX, Dirk has also entered the international stage of the European Talent Cup as the best German driver.

The performance level of the Moto3 category is extremely high, requiring a lot of work, discipline and dedication from the rider and the team. Since the racing team took over at the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring in 2016, the Prüstel family's goal has always been to field German-speaking riders in the World Championship as soon as the skills of a young talent are discovered. Since then, a lot has been invested in the PrüstelGP Academy, based at Sachsenring, to promote young German talents such as Freddie Heinrich, Lennox Lehmann or Marvin Siebdrath.

In 2020, two young German drivers will have the chance to prove themselves at the Northern Talent Cup. Through close cooperation with ADAC Sachsen and DORNA, further measures will be taken to promote and support young German talents.

Dirk Geiger : “A big thank you to the Prüstel family and PrüstelGP for their confidence in my skills. Thanks also to my parents and my management who made this arrival in the Moto3 World Championship possible. And to all fans and friends: you will see the best Dirk Geiger of all time. I'm not only going to race to be there, but I also want to represent Germany with dignity and inspire all motorsport fans. »

Florian Prüstel (General Manager): “We are pleased to announce that for the first time, we will participate in the first four races of the World Championship in 2020 with a German driver. Dirk Geiger, 17, is the designated pilot. »

“The level of performance in Moto3 is very high, which is why the decision was not easy for us. Since the start of our activities in the Moto3 World Championship in 2016, we have of course observed the market of young German riders and also supported them in the lower championships, often in cooperation with other teams that deal with professional support and equipment. Managing a world championship racing team is complex and often much more complicated than it appears from the outside. This requires a lot of commitment from each member of the team and from other supporters and sponsors, whom I would like to thank once again. And our sponsors' main markets are also important, for example in the choice of our GP drivers. Nevertheless, the performance, skills and potential of the riders are at the forefront. »

“The team has been back at the Sachsenring since last week and is now fully focused on preparing for the 2020 season. We will work hard with Dirk to prepare to test the new KTM bikes in February in Europe and Qatar, before that the first round of the World Championship resumes at the beginning of March. We look forward and hope for a lot of support from the German fans, and we are of course grateful to all the supporters and sponsors of our team, so that the junior projects can be supported and developed sustainably. »
