On the occasion of the Assen Grand Prix, the Dutchman Ryan van de Lagemaat will make a wild card on his home track. This is who this young pilot is.

The Dutch presence in the MotoGP World Championship is not very important, but it will be strengthened during the next Grand Prix with a new name: Ryan van de Lagemaat, 17, called to participate as a wild card in Moto3 during his home race on the TT Circuit Assen for the second year in a row.

As for Holland in the World Cup, the country can count on the presence of driver Bo Bendsneyder, rookie this year in Moto2, but also on the NTS RW Racing GP team, still in the same category, for which Steven Odendaal is racing. and Joe Roberts. At the Grand Prix, Jurgen van den Goorbergh (known as the “Flying Dutchman”) will take a demo ride on the new Energica Ego Corsa MotoE motorcycle.

The KNMV National Federation has formalized the agreement of a wild card for the young Ryan van de Lagemaat, who will thus have the opportunity to compete once again with the World Cup drivers. His name is, however, not unknown in the world of two wheels, since his uncle, Henk van de Lagemaat, has a long career as a pilot, and rode in 250cc.

As for Ryan, he started riding at a very young age and took part in the National Pocket Bike Championships. Born in 1999 in Culemborg, van de Lagemaat competed in the 2011 HONDA NSF100 European Championship before spending the following year in the German NK Moto3 Championship where he was the youngest rider to reach a podium.

After the Spanish PreMoto3 and Moto3 cups, he arrived in the FIM CEV Repsol Junior World Championship in 2017, and is participating again this year. Van de Lagemaat will make his second wild card in the World Cup aboard a KTM RC250GP, within the Lamotec Lagemaat Racing team, the same structure in which he races in CEV Moto3.
