After a month of absence, Moto3 is back at Silverstone, and it continues with P1. The smallest of the categories is relatively dominated by David Alonso (CFMoto Aspar Team) on fire this season, but despite his six victories in nine races, he must not let his guard down. Remember that it was here that he won his first Grand Prix in 2023, when he was just a young rookie. Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) and Ivan Ortola (KTM MT Helmets MSi) showed, with a victory each, that they were capable of occasionally competing with the Colombian. Impossible to forget Daniel Holgado, (GasGas Red Bull Tech3), winner in Portugal and often fast despite a slight drop in recent form. This morning, the drivers in the smallest of the categories went very quickly, with a 2'09.600 for David Alonso, a new lap record.

We meet again for the 10th round of the world championship this weekend after the holidays.

The Silverstone track welcomes us under an overcast sky but which nevertheless lets the sun shine through: it is 23° in the air and 41° on the track. The wind came into this session.

It is Alonso which signs the reference time in 2.11.343s. Suzuki regains control instantly in 2.10.714s. Next Fernandez, Nepa, Alonso and Piqueras.

Veijer takes the lead in 2.10.056s. Suzuki maintains 2nd best time ahead of Fernandez, Alonso, Nepa, Munoz, Kelso, Piqueras, Ortola and Rueda.

Alonso goes on the offensive and improves, he recovers the 2nd best time in 2.10.625s. He falls while following in turn 6

12 minutes left in this session, the drivers return to the box in order to fine-tune the final settings: The objective is to qualify in the first 14 to enter Q2 directly.

For the moment, Veier holds the line in 2.10.056s ahead of Alonso in 2.10.625s, Suzuki, Fernandez, Roulstone, Kelso, Nepa, Munoz, Rueda and Piqueras

It's a rush on the track...

Roulstone signs the best time in 2.10.038s. But Veijer doesn't give up, he takes back the reins of the session in 2.09.565s. He breaks the track record. Behind, ortola puts in the watts and recovers the 2nd best time in 2.09.952s. Roulstone, 3rd.
