Dennis Foggia qualified on pole for the third time in his GP career after France and Catalonia. He will attempt to claim what would be his fourth victory this year with the Indonesian, British and San Marino GPs. He finished P3 in Moto3 in 2018 at Buriram. This is also Honda's first pole at Buriram in Moto3, the first two having gone to KTM riders (2018 and 2019).
James Masia qualified in second position for his best qualifying since his pole position at last year's Americas GP. He will aim for victory for the first time since Le Mans. Ayumu Sasaki qualified in third position, which is the sixth time since the start of the year that he has qualified in the top three. He will attempt to reach the podium for the first time in three successive Moto3 races.
Stefano Nepa qualified in fourth position, equaling his best GP qualifying result last year at Catalunya. His best Moto3 race result so far is P5. Diogo Moreira qualified in fifth position, which is the seventh time he has qualified in the top six during his rookie season. He will try to get on his first podium in Moto3, his best result in Moto3 being P6.
The leader of the championship, Izan Guevera, qualified in 11th position, his worst result since his 12th place last year at the Algarve GP. He will still try to win for the first time in the three successive Moto3 races. Second in the Championship, Sergio Garcia qualified in 20th position, his worst result since his 24th place at last year's British GP.
