It was on the Ricardo Tormo circuit near Valencia in Spain that the CIP – Green Power drivers met for the European GP last weekend.

Despite the rain and precarious conditions, Darryn Binder once again made it to Q2 to qualify ninth. Pushed back to 11th position after the start of the race, the South African quickly moved up the hierarchy by avoiding the errors of his opponents. He then engaged in a merciless fight for second place before giving up to reach the finish line in fifth position.

Darryn Binder (5th): « A crazy weekend with very varied conditions. I managed to qualify ninth and I was pretty happy. The track was wet on Friday and Saturday, and it was only during warm-up that we were able to ride in the dry. After this session, I was at ease. The conditions were still a bit tricky with still a few wet parts, but I had a good start and there were a few incidents on the second lap. I managed to place myself in the group for the podium. Unfortunately, I lost ground and couldn't catch up. I just wasn't fast enough today. I didn't have a good feeling. I gave my best and we finished fifth, which is positive. We will have to work on the settings for next week. We hope to have good weather and to try to fight again. »

Alain Bronec (Team Owner) : « It's a great fifth place for Darryn after some solid practice and a start from the third row. He quickly moved back into the leading group. We spent most of the weekend on a wet track, so the bike wasn't set up as well as we hoped for the race. He still finished fifth and, for us, that's a big step forward. He is now managing his races and in difficult times it is a very good performance. »
