Now two weeks before the resumption of the Championship, it is more than ever time to prepare to arrive as prepared as possible. With a reduced calendar and races that will follow one another, the drivers know that all their habits will be disrupted, like Celestino Vietti, driver within the Sky Racing Team VR46.

The young Italian has resumed training with the VR46 Riders Academy, which he considers to be an opportunity compared to his opponents. “It’s fundamental to train with other people”, he told GP One. “If we start again alone we push to our limits and we are happy. Whereas on the contrary when we enter the track with strong drivers and we are at our maximum and we see that it is not enough, we manage to take a step forward to look for something more. This mechanism returns more quickly. »

Despite a Grand Prix at the start of the season, the Moto2 and Moto3 riders were not really able to get back into the rhythm since confinement arrived just after. However, there is no question of putting this weekend aside for Vietti who does not want to repeat the same mistakes, nor lose his motivation too much: “For me it was worse because I fell. But it had a positive side because we managed to collect a lot of data and we will arrive in Jerez already knowing what to work on to improve. It will be especially important to focus on the problems encountered in Qatar to resolve them quickly and succeed in being more competitive. »

“Personally I take everything as a challenge, like a race, I try to maintain this mentality. When we arrive in Jerez everything will be a little different because we took the winter break, we started again for a race and then we found ourselves on break for three months. Finding all the automatisms will not be as quick [as usual] but in my training I try to simulate what happens during a race weekend. »

Well prepared, both physically and mentally, Vietti has put all the chances on his side for this recovery but knows that nothing is written in advance and that he will have to manage each race perfectly to be among the first in the ranking at the end of the year. “Like everyone else, I’m going there to win”, he added. “I thought I was aiming for third place in the Championship, I thought I was there, but now there is no time to think, we will have to give the maximum, regardless of the position. During a normal season I could have had clearer ideas. »

“Consistency will be really important because the slightest mistake could compromise the season with so many close races. You will have to be calm and not make mistakes, there will be no time to recover. »
