It becomes very hard for Danilo Petrucci in search of the title MotoAmerica : for an alleged early start, he is penalized by 5″ and loses too much ground in the championship.

Le Barber Motorsports Park, vous le savez, peut être considéré, à toutes fins utiles, comme un “circuit Yamaha”. La première course du MotoAmerica Superbike à Birmingham en est une nouvelle confirmation. Samedi, lors de la première super-finale de la saison, Jake Gagne monopolized the stage by signing his 12th personal victory of 2022 and, therefore, consolidating his lead in the ranking over Danilo Petrucci.

The Italian flag bearer, who was physically third at the finish, was penalized 5″ for an early start, archiving the first race of the weekend in 4th position. A result which now relegates him to 16 lengths behind his rival, with only 25 more points to gain tomorrow in the last and decisive race 2 scheduled.

DANILO PETRUCCI PENALIZED
Difficult qualifying, just as much (if not more…) as race 1. Danilo Petrucci has had a weekend so far in Alabama characterized by multiple setbacks along the way. Facing several difficulties, he did not exceed the fifth time in practice (with a slower time than during private testing last May...), in the race he experienced everything. With a Ducati Panigale V4 R that was difficult to tame (sluggish traction, obviously, obvious engine braking problems, particularly at the entrance to turn 5), he tried everything. May be too much. At the start, due to an early start (by a hair...), he was penalized 5″ by the race direction. The communication arrived on the 7th lap, when he was in third position, very far behind the fugitive Jake Gagne and favored by a slide of Cameron Petersen (2nd at that time).

GOODBYE ALSO TO THE PODIUM FOR DANILO PETRUCCI
Unapproachable, Jake Gagne et Matthew Scholtz (2th), Danilo Petrucci tried everything to save at least one place on the podium.

TOMORROW RACE 2 DECISIVE
While the MotoAmerica Superbike title is still at stake, tomorrow at 15:10 p.m. local time (22:10 p.m. French time) Race 2 will take place, the last and decisive round of the 2022 season. As always, the MotoAmerica Live+ service (on subscription) will ensure the live broadcast of the event.
