In parallel with the MotoGP Grand Prix of Assen, MotoAmerica is launching an attack on Ridge Motorsports Park, to compete in the fifth round of its 2024 championship. The race in Washington will mark the comeback of Cameron Beaubier after an injury to the foot which made him miss the last four events.
Race 2:
Starting from pole position, Loris Baz once again failed to take advantage of his advantage. In difficulty at Ridge Motorsports Park, the Frenchman finished just off the podium, four seconds behind.
However, this was not the case for his garage neighbor, Josh Herrin, who really flew through this race. Riding his Panigale V4 R, Herrin quickly took the lead, he was then untouchable. Gradually moving away from his opponents, the Ducati rider showed great consistency throughout the sixteen laps to complete, to win with a lead of 5,063 seconds. This is Herrin's second victory this season, but also his 12th career Superbike victory.
The championship leader, Bobby Fong, was not a prophet in Washington since the start of the weekend. However, he made up for it in Race 2. Fourth on the first lap, he was able to get on the podium by taking second place with his Yamaha. .
Race 1 winner Cameron Petersen got off to a good start on Sunday, but suffered from forearm pain. Managing to finish third, he suggested that he could have achieved better results this weekend without these restrictive sensations.
Sean Dylan Kelly bounced back from a zero score in Race 1 to finish fifth. Cameron Beaubier completes his comeback on a constant note. He collected valuable points by placing eighth, two tenths from the top position. Despite everything, he finished ahead of Jake Gagne, whose Sunday was to be forgotten.
Josh Herrin, winner at the Ridge:
“I would like more races like these and less races in the rain. But the championship needs that, and a duel between brands is quite exciting. I can't wait to go racing at Laguna Seca, it's going to be an exciting weekend. As I've said all year, we knew Barber was tough, but every other race suits us. Maybe Dunlop will let us use the rain track for the end of the year and try to improve a little. It's mostly my fault with all the stupid choices I've made with tires over the last two years, running in the rain. Thanks to my entire team. Really excited to go to Laguna, not only for the race, but also for Ducati DRE. To spend time with all Ducati fans and riders. I look forward to seeing you there. »

Note that the first four are held within nine points, which underlines the competitiveness of the MotoAmerica peloton in 2024.
