MotoAmerica heads to Road America after a turbulent round at Barber, which saw Cameron Beaubier come out on top to win two of the three scheduled races. This weekend it will therefore be a question of Jake Gagne getting back in the saddle, getting the better of his main rival, while Loris Baz should not be excluded from the equation. The Frenchman's Ducati could give him a significant advantage on a fast track.

Free Trials:

Cameron Beaubier was the fastest in free practice on the Road America track. This Friday evening (European time), the BMW driver beat all his opponents by more than a second thanks to a mark of 2:09.509. He was also the only rider to reach the milestone aboard his M 1000 RR.

The winner of the last two races of the round at Barber therefore made a good warm-up, taking the advantage over his rival in the championship, Jake Gagne, from the first laps of the wheels.

Bobby Fong placed second in this free practice session, with a 2:10.925 lap on his YZF-R1. The driver had a promising start to the weekend, when we learned that his session had ended prematurely due to a technical problem.

Jake Gagne is in third position at the end of the first session of the weekend with a lap in 2:11.258. Standing almost two seconds behind his main rival, the Yamaha rider did not start this meeting in the best possible way, as he was slowed down in his momentum by a fall.

Winner of the first race at Barber, Cameron Petersen finished fifth just ahead of Josh Herrin (2:12.024) who was unable to extract the full potential of his Ducati at the start of the day. This is also the case for Loris Baz, who finished the session in tenth position, more than three seconds from the lead.

Qualifying Practices 1:

During the first qualifying practices, Cameron Beaubier continued his momentum, and dominated the session to take provisional pole position in 2:09.764. This time again, the BMW driver beat his closest pursuer by more than a second at Elkhart Lake.

Behind him, the gaps are minimal, since the drivers from 2nd to 10th places are within less than a second.

Josh Herrin progressed, and placed second in this session, in 2:11.006, improving his practice time by more than a second aboard his Ducati from the Warhorse Racing team. Bobby Fong ranks third, and blocks a nice provisional front row with an attempt in 2:11.210.

The Frenchman, Loris Baz moves up the hierarchy, and takes provisional sixth position on the starting grid, drastically improving his personal best time established in the morning. There is still plenty of room for improvement for the Habs, who hope to grab a few more positions in Q2 this Saturday.

Jake Gagne does not manage to do well during a session where the differences are tiny. The Yamaha rider completes the top-10, and greatly complicates his task while his main rival seems to have no difficulty staying in the lead.

However, everything can still be decided during the second part of the qualifying practices, which will take place this Saturday evening (French time).

Cameron Beaubier, provisional poleman at Road America:

“The BMW Tytlers work really well here. We have some power and it feels so good to use it on this track. It's a pretty special place for me. I've had a lot of wins here and I really enjoy this track. Not just the track, but everything around it. We're having fun this weekend and we just have to keep our heads down. It was a very good day today and we will continue tomorrow. »
