MotoAmerica heads to Road America after a turbulent round at Barber, which saw Cameron Beaubier come out on top to win two of the three scheduled races. This weekend it will therefore be a question of Jake Gagne getting back in the saddle, getting the better of his main rival, while Loris Baz should not be excluded from the equation. The Frenchman's Ducati could give him a significant advantage on a fast track.

Race 2:

The Ducati were announced as favorites on the fast Road America track, but the first race of the weekend, contested in the rain, did not allow Loris Baz and Josh Herrin to extract the full potential of the Panigale V4 R. Race 2 was more favorable to them.

Josh Herrin won the second race of the weekend at Elkhart Lake, leading from start to finish to beat his closest pursuer by 9,058 seconds at the finish line.

It was Bobby Fong who was the best of the others this Sunday, taking his Yamaha to the second step of the podium. Unlike Saturday, Loris Baz did not manage to get on the podium. It didn't matter much, since the Frenchman was right behind JD Beach in the last of the twelve laps to go.

If the gap in front of the checkered flag is significant between Herrin and Fong, only 8 tenths separated the latter from Baz (4th).

Three-time defending champion Jake Gagne ranks fifth. A result which is not disappointing overall, when we know the weekend that his championship rival, Cameron Beaubier, went through. After a heavy fall in Race 1, the pole sitter fractured his heel. He therefore did not participate for the rest of the weekend.

The rookie, Sean Dylan Kelly, went wide at the end of the race entering Canada Corner. It was not an error by the TopPro Racing BMW driver, but a mechanical failure. Letting the podium slip away, Kelly somehow reached the finish line in sixth place.

Josh Herrin, winner of race 2:

“No victory in Superbike is easy, but I have to say that I had a great bike today. I felt great. I was in the rhythm. I didn't think about anyone behind me, I wasn't worried and with three laps to go I saw that I was nine seconds ahead. I just couldn't believe it. I just want to thank the entire Warhorse HSBK Racing team for all the hard work they do. I'm happy to be back here and really grateful for the opportunity they're giving me. It's rare to have such a complete package, but right now we have it.

I'm disappointed that Cam (Beaubier) is not there. I hope he recovers quickly because I know he definitely would have been in the mix. I'm sure he'll be back soon and quickly. The next round is going to be difficult, for sure, but I'm ready and excited to start it. » The next round will take place in a little less than two weeks, in Brainerd Lake.
