The FIM has published the list of 18 riders who will participate in next year's MotoE World Cup, the electric category of the Motorcycle World Championship. A championship that will celebrate its fourth edition in 2022 with a strong Spanish contingent and with an ambitious program consisting of seven double rounds, which gives us a total of 14 races.

Among the 18 riders registered in the electric paddock for the 2022 world championship, seven of them will race under the Spanish flag. Among the most notable new features we find the entry of Xavi Forés, who will make his debut aboard the Energica EGO Corsa of the OCTO PRAMAC MotoE team after his bitter divorce from the BMW Motorrad Endurance Team. It will be recalled that this structure decided to break the agreement made with the Valencian driver overnight, despite the fact that the two parties planned to compete in the 2022 World Endurance Championship together.

Alex Escrig, this year's winner of the FIM CEV Superstock 600 category, will also be another new face in the MotoE paddock in the French ranks of Tech3 E-Racing, a team that has also confirmed the return of Héctor Garzó to MotoE. 2022 will see the debut of another Spaniard in this championship, Marc Alcoba, registered with the Openbank Aspar Team.

MotoE: no French will be in the loop

Among the rest of the Spanish drivers we note the presence of the reigning champion Jordi Torres with the Pons Racing 40. María Herrera retains her seat in the Openbank Aspar team and Miguel Pons will be next year with the E-Team LCR. The 2022 MotoE grid will also feature several experienced riders in the electric class, such as runner-up Dominique Aegerter (Dynavolt Intact GP), the first MotoE champion, Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE) or the Brazilian Eric Granado (LCR E – Team), author of five MotoE victories over the last three years. The entry list also includes the name of a former MotoGP rider who also has experience in MotoE, Briton Bradley Smith, who will compete within the WithU GRT RNF MotoE Team structure.

The first round of MotoE 2022 will take place at the Jerez Ángel Nieto Circuit on the weekend of April 30 and May 1. The 18 riders registered for the electric motorcycle world championship will be able to carry out two official training sessions on the Andalusian track on March 17, 18 and 19 and April 11, 12 and 13.
