The German rider was the fastest of the day in MotoE, ahead of the reigning Champion in the category. But the gaps are tight and nothing is decided with a view to qualifying.

After a short hiatus at Mugello, the Electric Motorcycle World Championship resumed its rights this Friday with the start of the third round of the season in Catalonia, after those contested in Jerez and Le Mans.

And it's the winner of the last event in France, the Brazilian Eric Granado (One Energy Racing), who pulled out all the stops for this restart, setting the best time at the end of FP1 ahead of Jordi Torres. But this hierarchy was somewhat shaken up in the afternoon with the appearance at the top of the ranking of Lukas Tulovic (Tech3 E-Racing), author of a time of 1'50.808.

The German thus beats Jordi Torres (Pons Racing 40) to the post, second of the day for only 49 thousandths behind his opponent: in other words, a breath! Behind the two men, former MotoGP rider Yonny Hernandez (Octo Pramac MotoE) also showed his advantage by finishing this Friday in third place, ahead of Granado ultimately fourth.

In sixth place, we will also have to keep an eye on Dominique Aegerter (Dynavolt Intact GP). The Swiss, who achieved his first Supersport success last week at Estoril, feels himself growing wings and showed good momentum in Catalonia, jumping from 13th to sixth place between the first two free practice sessions in Montmeló.

Finally, we note that the speed record was broken today in the category, and is now to be credited to Andrea Mantovani (Indonesian E-Racing Gresini MotoE), “flashed” at 262.1 km/h very precisely, at the end of the long pit straight, which is 13 km/h better than the previous record, held until now by Héctor Garzó since Valencia 2019.
