The Swiss pilot decided to help a residence for the elderly run by his sports coach, in Spain, in order to fight against the spread of the coronavirus.

Since the start of the pandemic, drivers have expressed themselves via social networks about their completely transformed daily lives, often through live events that they organize with other people in the paddock. Everyone is confined to their homes and trying to continue to maintain their physical fitness.

None have yet been directly affected by the coronavirus, which is not the case for certain members of the teams who have lost loved ones, like the sporting director of LCR Honda and the Nieto family. Still others see their family being on the front lines, like Jonathan Rea whose little sister is a nurse.

And then there is Dominique Aegerter. The Swiss, who left Moto2 for MotoE this year, remained living in Spain for the confinement, and the least we can say is that he did not stay at home waiting for this bad period passes. He published a video on his social networks in which he is seen dressed in a sanitary suit, gloves and a mask and explaining his commitment.

“Every year I come to Spain to do my physical preparation with Coach to top. When the MotoGP season was canceled due to coronavirus, I decided to stay here to train online at home”, he began. « Pol, mon coach, dirige également une résidence pour personnes âgées, et j’ai proposé de l’aider de toutes les manières possibles. Je lui ai dit “tu m’aides toujours, maintenant c’est à moi de t’aider”. Chaque semaine, j’achète de l’eau de Javel pour eux et désinfecte tout l’extérieur. Je m’entraîne le matin chez moi et l’après-midi je collabore à la prévention et la désinfection de la résidence. »

“This virus is deadly for the elderly and I couldn’t stay cooped up at home and watch all the problems”, He said. “The residence is called CG Sant Pere and it is one of the few to have 0 cases of coronavirus, so I am proud to help this cause! I encourage everyone to help whenever possible. Together we will beat this virus! »
