MotoE began its third season today at the Jerez circuit, with the first two free practice sessions of the electric championship taking place. Although the weather was storm-free all day, there was still electricity in the air and in the engines at the start of the MotoE season.

Author of a hat trick on the Andalusian track last year, Eric Granado, who initially set the best time during the first free practice session this morning, subsequently confirmed his good intentions in the afternoon. The Brazilian is thus at the top of the combined ranking this Friday evening, with a best time of 1'48.057 achieved during FP1. If this performance remains for the moment one second below his best time signed two weeks ago on the same track during pre-season testing, the tone has already been set and we will have to count on him again this year .

This warning, there is no doubt that the title holder, Jordi Torres, will take this into account. The Spaniard, who finished the day in fourth place, was still more than half a second behind the leader, and allowed Dominique Aegerter and Miquel Pons (who therefore acts as the best rookie in the standings this evening), between him and Granado. Behind them, you have to go down to seventh place to find the winner of the inaugural season, Matteo Ferrari, who finished this first day seventh, behind Xavier Cardelus et Alessandro Zaccone.

Fall for Perolari

We will also note the difficult day for the Frenchman Corentin Perolari (Tech3 E-Racing), new to the category, who crashed during the second free practice session, without damage to the driver but with very damaged mount, which triggered the appearance of the red flag after only seven minutes driving.

Now it's time for FP3, which will take place tomorrow from 11:50 a.m., before the first qualifying rounds of the electric motorcycle championship season, the start of the first E-Pole of which is scheduled for 16:05 p.m.
