The second round of the FIM Enel MotoETM World Cup was also on the program for the Andalusian Grand Prix in Jerez, with a 6-lap race of the Energica Ego Corsa electric motorcycles.

Dominique Aegerter (Dynavolt Intact GP) had signed the E-pole on Saturday and got off to a good start to lead into the first corner. The fight at the front was very intense on the first lap with several changes of leaders. Alejandro Medina (Openbank Aspar Team) completed the first lap in the lead.

As the laps go by, the former Cup leader, Eric Granado (Avintia Esponsorama Racing), set the best time and a new circuit record in 1'47.584 while chasing the Swiss leader. Unfortunately, the Brazilian was hit by the reigning champion, Matteo Ferrari (Trentino Gresini MotoE), and fell, leaving Dominique Aegerter take his first victory in MotoE.

The battle for the podium continued until the final lap between Jordi Torres (Pons Racing 40) and Mattia Casadei (Ongetta SIC58 Squadracorse) second and third respectively.

The performance of the Michelin MotoE tires clearly stands out this weekend where the thermometer reached 60°C on the track on Saturday afternoon, and 36°C for the race. The latest generation of Michelin MotoE tires features new front and rear compounds and a new rear construction. They also integrate biomaterials and regenerated materials.

The next FIM Enel MotoE World Cup races will take place in Misano, Italy, with three events held over two weekends in September, in support of MotoGP.

In the general classification, Dominique Aegerter et Jordi Torres got the better of Eric Granado.
