For this 2nd day of MotoE testing in Jerez, rain fell on the Andalusian circuit just before the 2nd of the 3 planned 30-minute sessions.

During the first morning run, which is therefore the only one to have taken place in the dry, the times were improved by almost 2 seconds compared to those of yesterday, under the impetus of Bradley Smith (One Energy Racing), consistent Niky Tuuli (Ajo Motorsport MotoE), Mike Di Meglio (EG 0.0 Marc VDS) and Mattia Casadei (Ongetta SIC58 Racing Team).

On Friday, the British driver was already seduced by the formula…

Bradley Smith : “I'm happy to have completed my first laps in MotoE. The first session took place in the rain, so it was a good opportunity to compare the feeling to the one we had in the dry afterwards. I am pleasantly surprised with the handling of the bike and how it performed here in Jerez. We need to determine what steps we need to take to improve everything and evaluate the outcome of each step. So far, everything we've seen has been positive; we must now analyze the work we have accomplished on this first day and make a plan for tomorrow. We were in the top three for most of the day, now we have to find a way to be the fastest, which is the goal. »

Mission accomplished, then.

Eric Granado (Avintia Esponsorama Racing) was very skilful on Saturday in the wet, but ultimately had to bow out to Randy de Puniet (LCR E-Team) for 3 tenths.

Note that Marvin Fritz replaced Jesko Raffin (Dynavolt Intact GP), the latter wishing to participate in the final of the FIM CEV Moto2 championship which takes place this weekend in Valencia.

Technically, this series of tests will certainly be used by Energica to refine its Ego motorcycle.

According to our initial information, the main current concern seems to concern an increase in battery temperature of up to 70° after a reduced number of revolutions, which then jeopardizes the stability of performance.

We can bet that the Italian firm will be keen to resolve this for next season.

3 new sessions are expected this Sunday, as well as a strong risk of rain.
