First day of MotoE testing in Jerez with the best time for Dominique Aegerter, ahead of Granado and Zaccone. Aldeguer also stands out among the rookies.

The first day of MotoE testing in sunny Jerez ended today. For these first tests with a view to the third season of the electric category, only Mattia Casadei was absent due to injury. The eight “veterans” were very active. Dominique Aegerter achieved the best time on Tuesday, while among the nine rookies, the youngest driver on the grid, Fermín Aldeguer, stood out. Tires, suspension and charging systems are among the major innovations for 2021. As for the times, the absolute record on the Andalusian track belongs to Eric Granado in 1'47.584, set last year during the second GP in Jerez. But there is someone who did better: the 1'47.494 of Matteo Ferrari during the March 2020 tests. Tomorrow same program, in the meantime, let's detail today's three sessions.

First session

The opening session took place from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with Eric Granado at the top of the timesheet. In the end, the Brazilian driver, new representative of One Energy Racing, recorded a time of 1'49.803. A reference, the only one in less than 1'50, which allowed him to surpass Matteo Ferrari (Team Gresini), until then in the lead. Third place for Dominique Aegerter (Intact GP), followed by the reigning champion Jordi Torres (Pons Racing). As for the rookies, the best of the round is the young Fermín Aldeguer (Aspar Team), 15 years old, 9th with a tenth ahead of Andrea Mantovani (Team Gresini).

Second session

The second session of the day was held from 13:00 p.m. to 13:30 p.m. on the Andalusian circuit. The times were revised downwards (four drivers below 1'50), but once again Eric Granado leads, with a 1'49.120, around 7 tenths less than in the morning. Second place for Dominique Aegerter, 3th for Alessandro Zaccone, during its first outing in the colors of Octo Pramac MotoE. Among the rookies, the best on this occasion is once again the driver of the Aspar team, Fermin Aldeguer, author of the sixth time of the round between the two veterans Matteo Ferrari et Xavier Cardelús (Avintia Esponsorama).

Third session

The day ended with increased activity on the track from 16:00 p.m. to 16:30 p.m. A program which will be repeated over the next two days, in preparation for the third season of MotoE. The times are always falling, and that is why today's best benchmarks were achieved there. Dominique Aegerter, in particular, demonstrates this by not only achieving the best time of the session, but also of Tuesday in Jerez. The Swiss from Intact GP, very close to the pole of the Andalusian GP (1'48.158), precedes Eric Granado, wheras'Alessandro Zaccone finished third in this session. Fermín Aldeguer, best beginner with the 4th best time, continues to shine.
