Now the Pons team has chosen the one who will succeed Gibernau. This is Jordi Torres.

It's official: the Join Contract Pons 40 team will face its second season in the MotoE World Cup and it will do so with Jordi Torres. After an honorable first season with Sete Gibernau, his compatriot Torres will be the one who ensures this continuation. The 32-year-old Spanish rider will combine the MotoE World Cup with WorldSBK. Jordi was a winner in two World Championship categories, in Moto2 and WorldSBK, reaching the podium on four occasions in Moto2 and five times in WorldSBK. He was also a MotoGP rider for Avintia as a replacement for Ponsson who nevertheless had to act as a freelancer while waiting for the return of Rabat. It was then 2018.
