His fall on Phillip Island was already five weeks ago, but Cal Crutchlow finds the time long. And for good reason. Badly injured with an ankle fractured in three places and operated on twice, the LCR pilot realized the need for a long and delicate convalescence. So much so that he is putting his participation in the February back-to-school tests at Sepang on hold…

Cal Crutchlow still has work to do before thinking about finding his bike. To give himself every chance of getting back on his feet quickly, he left for California to benefit from the best conditions. On speedweek, he takes stock of the situation: “ everything is fine. I'm in California, doing my best. Could I drive at Sepang in February? I don’t know… I do everything to be able to be operational there. But I had a triple fracture in my ankle. It was a bad fall, very heavy ».

He pursues : " I had a fantastic surgery and an excellent surgeon who did a great job of putting everything together. I have good mobility in my ankle so far, about four or five weeks before returning to normal. It's going well, don't get me wrong, it's going well. I plan to be back at Sepang, there’s no doubt about it. But if it was next week, there would be no chance, I know it! ».

« I can ride a bike, but I can't load my leg while walking. Otherwise, the implanted artificial bone would be affected. I can't rush anything. I'm happy to be able to cycle in California. Before I left, I couldn't ride much on the Isle of Man. Here, the heat speeds up my recovery and ankle mobility, which I absolutely need ».

In the meantime, he has the opportunity to see and rewatch the MotoGP Grands Prix of the past season. With this comment: “ MotoGP is the best motorsport discipline ».
