As you know, the name of Fabio Quartararo has been circulating for several days among those mentioned to take the handlebars of a satellite Yamaha next season, within the SIC team.

Things seem well advanced for the French driver and, this morning, on Eurosport, Carlo Pernat even added a stone to the building by declaring himself informed that the signing had just taken place.

Charles Pernat : “The Quartararo affair? It's a beautiful thing. From what I know, he signed the contract to do MotoGP with Petronas. Yesterday, that's what they told me. It's a beautiful thing for France and for himself. He is a driver who had the regulations changed by Carmelo Ezpeleta when he won the CEV. It went from 16 to 15 years old. It seemed then that he was going to have a great career because he has great talent. Honestly, it must be said that he was a little below the first year, but with a good team like that of Boscoscuro, he did a good job. He ended up in his head. I believe that motivation, above all, is important. The bike and the team, okay, but I think 80% is the head. I think he's a good choice for MotoGP, for France and for the whole paddock, because he's young and I think he has a good chance of doing well. But he must remain the Quartararo of the last 2 Grands Prix.”

We then contacted Fabio Quartararo's close entourage who completely denied that the signing had already taken place, despite the comments broadcast on Eurosport.

It must be said that the French pilot has a serious opponent in the person of Jorge Martinez, Sports Advisor within this new structure and who seeks to place a Alvaro Bautista particularly lively at the moment. But the latter has the disadvantage of having his career rather behind him while the project financed by Petronas is based on the future and young talents. Lorenzo Baldassarri also appears in the names cited.

As we publish these lines, it seems certain that no signing has yet taken place, which does not mean that it will not take place in the coming days...

It's all the bad we wish for the young person Fabio Quartararo !

Update: Besides, after FP3 Moto2, Eric Mahe himself, who helps Fabio Quartararo manage his career, denied the information from Carlo Pernat, still on Eurosport: “Indeed, it speaks a lot, in particular Carlo Pernat who, I believe, announced that we had signed yesterday. Carlo, if we signed yesterday, I'll give him 10 euros. You have to ask him the question this afternoon, and if he is ready to give me €000, it might not be an invention. No, basically, Fabio didn't sign, that's for sure. This is a very interesting project but one that must be carefully measured. We don't want to rush. We are honored by this possibility and I think Fabio deserves it. It’s an honor but we must remain lucid. On the other hand, rushing and doing anything is not at all the style of the house. So we're going to say that Fabio has a chance of being in MotoGP next year. More than less, to give a trend. And we should know very quickly, that is to say next week, I suppose.”
