To Pol Espargaro, the summer break which will be pronounced upon the arrival of the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring will bring it a little closer to a 2019 season which will be a new stage in the KTM Grand Prix adventure. For two years, the former 2013 Moto2 World Champion has made his place as leader in the RC16 project, but what follows will have to be shared with a Johann zarco twice titled in the same intermediate category and coming from the same team as him, i.e. Tech3. But with much more convincing results…

As a result, the comparison between the two men will not fail to be made quite quickly. A deadline that the younger brother of an official Aleix at Aprilia addresses as follows: “ we always talk about the bike, but we, as riders, have to work on ourselves and improve individually. Mentally, I am stronger than ever because I have a great team around me. They do everything to make it go well and I always have a big smile on my face. And sometimes that's the most important thing. My ambition is to win a title with KTM ».

That being said, this campaign is not going quite as hoped. The Spaniard was seriously injured in the back, which disrupted his start to the season, but, even now recovered, the hoped-for goal of a top 6 still seems out of reach. And for good reason, Pol Espargaro has never appeared in the top 10 this year: “ we continue to develop and we have to make twice as much effort as our adversaries. Our work is harder, but it must be done. However, I learned more last year at KTM than during my last three years in MotoGP ».

Three seasons then spent with Tech3, who will join the KTM clan: “ it will be a big progress because Tech3 is a great team. They work well on young riders and they don't just want motorcycles. They want to be really involved in our project ».
