MotoGP 2020: Paolo Ciabatti insists on the “Petrucci” case

The sporting director of Ducati Corse, Paolo Ciabatti, confided that he was renewing his confidence in his rider Danilo Petrucci with a view to the upcoming 2020 season.  

The 2019 season has just ended and with it, a very contrasting assessment has been drawn for Danilo Petrucci, the defector from the Alma Pramac team. To a smooth performance at the start of the season, with his victory at Mugello in particular, was added an end to the season where the Italian sank into the abyss of total inconsistency.

Paolo ciabatti considers, however, that Petrucci gave himself the means to achieve his ambition by regularly fighting for the podium and victory. On the other hand, this was possible as long as the team was able to meet Danilo's expectations to support his performances, which was not always the case.

« Either way, we think Danilo is a driver capable of fighting for the podium and winning the race, we just have to work with him and try to get him back to the level he was at the start of the season », said Ciabatti.

For the boss of Ducati Corse, the Terni rider had a perfect season. For his part, his teammate Andrea Dovizioso was able to achieve three successive podiums in France, Italy and Catalonia. He was also crowned vice-world champion behind Marc Marquez, when Danilo finished in 6th place, behind the rookie and Petronas Yamaha rider, Fabio Quartararo.

« So, we have confidence in him and we will work with him also next year and bring him back to where he was in the first half of 2019”, insisted Paolo Ciabatti, sure of his pilot.
