Jonas Folger MotoGP

A ghost. Jonas Folger, ex-pilot MotoGP full-time at Yamaha Tech3, returned to action in 2023 after a long absence at the highest level due to a health problem. Moreover, we have already told you his story in an article that you can find by clicking here. At the start of the season, he was called by Hervé Poncharal to replace the unfortunate Pol Espargaro, injured during free practice for the first Grand Prix of the year in Portugal.

This is news reported by speedweek ; Jonas Folger will be, in 2024, reserve driver for GasGas Tech3. “We extended Jonas’ contract” said Pit Beirer recently for the Germanic site. It must be said that the other replacements could not assume his role. Mika Kallio is getting old, and Dani Pedrosa, more focused on the development and the wild cards for the official team, did not want to do several stints as was the case for the German.

Pierer Mobility AG explains: « He did a good job as a test pilot, but also when he took the plunge in the deep end in Texas. Jonas did better than we thought, and for that alone he deserves to stay with us in MotoGP. With three test pilots we are lucky” he concluded.

In total, Jonas Folger took part in six Grands Prix this season, with his best result being a 13th place at Le Mans. This places him in 25th position in the general classification, ahead of his compatriot Stefan bradl (all the same), Michele Pirro, or, Iker Lecuona. Given his career, Folger fully deserves what is happening to him. Hat !
