It must be acknowledged that, unlike in previous years, the first official test MotoGP The 2025 season on the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit did not bring its share of visible novelties, the manufacturers logically reserving themselves for the Shakedown which will take place in Sepang from January 31 to February 2.
This probably explains why, at the express request of the latter, the security (or espionage) rules will be very seriously reinforced. Basically, even if they are accepted, the media will not be very welcome during these three days of debugging, with in particular two places that will be completely closed to them, the pit lane and the press room.
At the request of the manufacturers, here are the rules regarding the media for the Shakedown:
– Passes and access to the tests will be managed by IRTA and Dorna.
– 2024 permanent passes are valid.
– Media access is permitted in the paddock and on the safety lanes only.
– Media will not be allowed in the pit lane.
– The media center will not be open.
– Filming of action scenes is prohibited during the Shakedown. No filming will be permitted from the service road or any other location overlooking the track or pit lane.
– Filming is prohibited within the circuit during shakedown days.
– Filming or conducting interviews is prohibited. The only interviews permitted will be those that have been previously scheduled and agreed with the team/rider.
– Filming is prohibited on the circuit site on February 3 and 4.
– Filming during the Shakedown will only be permitted with the approval of the Commercial Media Department. Once permission has been obtained, filming will be restricted to the paddock and surrounding area.
As for the official tests that will take place at Sepang from February 5 to 7, access will be open to the media in the same way as a normal test, that is to say with accessible press room and pitlane.
The 2025 MotoGP Shakedown will bring together test riders, official Honda and Yamaha riders (Manufacturers classified D for Concessions) and rookies, a total of 19 riders with a very busy schedule.
The message is therefore clear and perfectly understandable: “We want to work peacefully!”
