The most successful driver in history expects, in the years to come, to be dethroned by Marc Márquez, whom he considers “fantastic”.

This Sunday, Marc Marquez created the event by going for victory and taking all the risks against Fabio Quartararo to win his eighth world title. Since then, the number 93 has received praise from the world of sport, and particularly from drivers. Everyone is unanimous about his record, and many see him breaking the records of his elders.

It is true that with eight titles in ten seasons, the Spaniard freaks out the statistics, and it seems easy to imagine that he could beat Valentino Rossi and his nine titles (just like Mike Hailwood). Then, the task seems more difficult, since he will have to surpass the 12+1 coronations of Ángel Nieto and the 15 of Giacomo Agostini.

The latter, however, believes that Márquez will win “more than two titles” in the years to come, and even expects to be dethroned. “He’s a bad person, he has no respect for old drivers” he joked, before asserting very seriously: “It is possible that Marc will surpass me because he is still very young and he has already won a lot at 26 years old. He has a long career ahead of him and plenty of years left. I think he's on the right track. He is fantastic, he is a driver who has everything: he has the talent, the aggression, he is very friendly. He deserves everything. It is certain that he will win many other titles, he has the years for that. »

“He is very intelligent and has the biggest brand in the world behind him. He has nothing to demonstrate” he added. “He is currently the best and he has nothing to prove to anyone. He has a good bike, a fantastic team and the biggest brand in the world. Why change? »
